Bandit was a special-needs kitty who came to Cats Haven in
2007. He had survived the flooding in southern Indiana, but suffered from debilitating sinus issues from the mold and bacteria
in the small, damp garage where he had been confined. Bandit took over shelter manager responsibilites from Raspberry in 2009
when The RazMan found a home, and blogged regularly about shelter happenings and doings. Bandit crossed the Rainbow Bridge
on July 29, 2010. Rest easy, friend.

WOW! Check out the new Website!!!!!!
Wow-weeeeeee, guys!!! Take a gander at the new look to our website!!! Can you believe how good this looks?! I am absolutely
in awe! I gotta tell you all about this new look as well as our new logo. A couple of months ago, a local design and technology
group called Vision 3 chose Cats Haven to be part of their 24-hour "Creatathon." Each year, Vision 3 chooses a handful
of non-profits and works to help them with logos, website, brochures, and other types of media that can help their causes.
This year, Cats Haven was one of those non-profits, and the good folks at Vision 3 set out to get to know us and revamp some
of our stuff. So they met with Barb and The Other Sue, came to the shelter a couple of times, took a bunch of pictures, and
worked all night on the 18th and 19th to design something really cool for us. (Of course, I was up all night with them, talking
on the phone and emailing information and ideas to them, but Barb doesn't know this . . . she thought I was asleep downstairs
. . .) And at 8:00 Friday morning, they unveiled our new website look as well as our new logo. So what do you all think? Personally,
I think this is absolutely WONDERFUL!!! To everyone over at Vision 3, thank you so much. I can't tell you how cool the
new website look is! Other news? Yup, I've got it! Congrats to Stella, who got a home during Paws in the Park on
Saturday. Way to go, Stella! Paws in the Park was such a fun event. I do need to tell Bandit, however, to not try to play
with strange Chichuahuas. He got out of his harness and ran after a couple of small dogs. He scared the daylights out of these
little canines! And I'd like to welcome Marco Polo and his sister to the Cats Haven program. Marco Polo and his sister,
Annie Sullivan, were surrendered to Animal Care and Control a week ago last Saturday. Annie Sullivan was in good health,
but their previous caretaker thought Marco Polo's eyes had been attacked by insects. She thought he was blind. So the
Other Sue went to ACC and got them both. They spent a few days at The Cat Doctor where Dr. Johns found that Polo's eyes
were there, but they are just very small. It's like a birth defect. So Polo and his sister are safe and sound, being fostered
and given meds at their foster home, and they're doing just great! Polo's foster mom says that he sees motion and
light, and will chase catnip mice as well as his sister. They will both be up for adption at some point in the near future.
Oh, and our little friend Bruce, the kitty who was so badly injured a few weeks ago, is doing very very well! Mis foster mom
Mary Lee takes him to work at The Cat Doctor, and everyone is amazed at how he's growing and healing. Thank you to Dr.
Myra, Dr. Alice, Debbie, Leah, Joyce, Mary, and Dave for taking such good care of this little man. And congratulations to
Heathcliff, who went to his new home a couple of weeks ago. And congrats to all the fosters outside of the shelter house who
have found their own families. Woo hoo!!!! We've got lots of fun stuff coming up, and I'm looking around now
to find folks who want to help set up and tear down our Fall Frolic event. If you want to help set up tents and chairs in
the morning of the 11th, or tear down the same stuff that afternoon, contact The Other Sue at susan@pjfuzzypaws.com. She's
the one who's working with all the volunteers. It's gonna be a great day and I can't wait!! Hey, while you're
here, check out the latest and greatest Mewsletter that we're sending out this week! Just go to the Mewsletter tab and
click Mewsletter Fall 2008. You can read about the Fall Frolic, and be sure to check out my interview with Chomper!! This
latest Mewsletter will be in your mailbox in the next several days!
Well, I better go and see what the kittens
are doing. It's gotten very quiet here, and that worries me. Also, Miranda will have dinner ready soon. I think we're
having whitefish in chicken sauce with a side of mouse mousse . . . mmm mmm mmm. I love Sunday dinners around here! Take care,
all, and I'll blog again soon! - Raspberry

Our Calendar is Hoppin'!!!
Hi, guys! Now that the political conventions are over, I can finally get back to blogging!! I watched the Democrats and
the Republicans both, but I've found that I really enjoy sitting in the laundry room and watching the washer and dryer
go round and round. Unless someone runs on the Catnip and Chicken ticket, politics just isn't for me. Good news
about our friend, Bruce. He's doing absolutely great! He had surgery on his eye and face a couple of weeks ago, and finally
got his stitches out last week. He's healing and even growing some fur back on his face. And he still loves to play and
be loved on. I've worked with him to develop a powerful purr, too. Thank you, Mary Lee, for taking such good care of our
little Bruce. You're a babe! We've had a couple of super new volunteers start at the shelter house. Along with
Dzana, Elizabeth, and Sonja, we'd like to welcome Kylee, Diane, and Linda. Hi guys, and thanks for all your hard
work. And a big THANK YOU goes out to Vision3! They're taking a look at our website and logo and seeing how these can
be improved. Oh, speaking of volunteers, we're looking for folks who can help out at the shelter during the mornings starting
in mid-December. My best friend Dzana is going to have her knee replaced, so she'll be out of action for a few weeks this
winter. If you or someone you know might want to help us in the mornings, contact the shelter. We'd sure appreciate it!
We've got sooOOOOOoooo many special events coming up, I don't even know where to start. Right now, Barb is
at B Java Coffee at 56th and Lafayette Road. As long as the weather holds out, Barb will be there every other Friday from
11:30 to 1:30. She'll have jewelry and catnip toys for sale, so stop by and see her, and have a dee-lish coffee drink
and a sweet treat. I personally love their cookies. Homemade . . . mmm mmm mmm. Tomorrow, we have adoptions at Petco
in Speedway from noon til 2. And we'll have Payton the Persian, Bandit the Munchkin, and Loki the Siamese with us, along
with Stella the ab-fab calico. On September 13th, we'll be at the Great American Meat Out at City Market. Now, I gotta
admit that I'm not a vegetarian, but the Meat Out is a lot of fun. Then on September 20th, we'll be at Paws in the
Park at Broad Ripple Park. Then we've got Pagan Fest, our own Fall Frolic, adoptions at Speck's in Brownsberg, the
cat show at the Fairgrounds, the Christmas Gift and Hobby show . . . the list goes on and on! Be sure to keep an eye on our
calendar because we're adding more and more fun stuff all the time. We really like getting out and seeing you all, so
please stop by as many events as you can. And you never know . . . you might just find your new best friend! Oh, and I almost
forgot. The 2009 Cats Haven calendars are available now at our Cafe Press store. Check it out at www.cafepress.com/catshaven.300503482.
You're gonna love the new calendar, and a big thanks and hug goes out to April Tchiguka for putting this together. Of
course, MY picture is part of the calendar again this year. Congrats to all the kitties who have found their fur-ever homes! Heathcliff recently went to join his new family,
as did Momma Mia. Y'know, the more we adopt out, the more we can help. So if you know anyone who is in need of a feline
friend, be sure to direct them to Cats Haven. Oh, and our Organic Mouser employment program continues to be a success! 'Looking
to hire an organic mouser? Just give us a call. We'll hook you up! Well, Miranda just put the kittens down for their
post-lunch naps, so I can take a break and watch a little TV before getting back to kitten classes this afternoon. Today,
we're all going to work on stalking and pouncing. Some of the kittens are doing so well that we might try a little running,
skidding, stalking, and pouncing. Have a good weekend, everyone, and we hope to see you soon!! - Raspberry
